Word of Wisdom

Our God Heals

What a wonderful Father we have! He is the same yesterday, today and forever. He healed in the Old Testament times. He healed in Jesus’ time and He is still in the healing business today. 1 Peter 2:24

God is good

I can’t stop praising God for His great love, care, protection and favor on my life. I just turned 68 and I am feeling better than I felt 10 years ago. It is all because of what Jesus did for us. His finished work which encompasses His unconditional love, grace, joy, peace, favor, protection, health, healing, guidance, provisions, victory and more!!!!!!!!!Thank you all for your prayers and support.
Stay blessed

Why Fast?

Fasting has been around for centuries. It is not a trend. It has been practiced by various groups both for spiritual health and for physical cleansing. Hippocrates, the father of Western medicine believed fasting enabled the body to heal itself. Paracelsus, another great physician wrote centuries ago; “Fasting is the greatest remedy, the physician within.”

Benefits of fasting

Fasting done the right way with the right motives:
  • Encourages spending quality time with God as we pray, study and meditate on His Word
  • Leads to a more intimate relationship with our loving Father God
  • Stirs up and builds our faith in God and in Jesus’ accomplished work. Reminds us of who we are in Christ and of our ability through the Holy Spirit
  • Helps us to listen to the Holy Spirit more intently, hear Him more clearly and follow His instructions more closely. Therefore fasting helps us to know the perfect will of God
  • Reveals areas of weakness and compromise, helps us to submit to God and resist the devil, it helps us to reshape our private life and change direction.
  • Helps eliminates bad habits like smoking and drug or drinking addictions
Since our main motive is to glorify God in our spirit and with our soul and body, we incorporate our fast with a nutrition program that teaches the effect of various types of fast on the body and how we can utilize the fasting discipline to maximize on its benefits for our spiritual life, our minds and our bodies the temples of God. As we dedicate our lives to studying the Word of God so that we may accomplish what is listed above, we also submit our bodies to God so that we may be good examples or ambassadors of His Kingdom here on earth. We remind ourselves of specific principles of nutrition, good eating habits and the right way to eat. Therefore, fasting also:
  • Helps to improves dietary habits, Promotes awareness of healthy foods and healthy eating
  • Reduces the stress on the digestive system and rests the body
  • May improve the elimination system
  • Rejuvenates health and slows aging
  • May lower cholesterol and high blood pressure
  • After 2nd day reduces hunger pangs and need for binging
  • Is easily adaptable to a busy life
  • Gives the body internal cleansing if done right
  • Some individuals report healing results after certain types of fast. Did you know that animals stop eating when they are hurt or when they are sick? Hippocrates, the father of Western medicine believed fasting enabled the body to heal itself. Paracelsus, another great physician wrote centuries ago; “Fasting is the greatest remedy, the physician within.”
Although some types of fast do not result in permanent weight loss, when adapted as a lifestyle, proper fasting can generate reasonable weight loss. For example, people who periodically first, one day a week, 3 days a month throughout the year or 21 days once year, are less likely to be troubled by weight management issues than those who never do. Periodic fasting will not only enhance your spiritual life, when combined with healthy eating habits, physical activity and proper rest, it will yield wonders in your physical and social life.
Do you have any concerns about fasting? We are here for you and if you want to share your experiences with us please don’t hestate. Yours might change somebody’s life!

Motives for a fasted lifestyle

Matthew 6:14-18“For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.”

We have already learnt that fasting is one of the most important aspects of a Christian walk. In the scripture above, it is evident that Jesus expects us to live a fasted life. That alone tells us that there is a secrete in fasting. Jesus does not want us to waste our time and effort fasting without reaping the benefits. Our motive when fasting matter and Andrew has summarized it very well in the devotional of 4/07/12

http://www.awmi.net/devotion/jesus/mar_07

I have done a lot of fasting and I encounter many people who use fasting as a means of cleansing. Many isolate physical fasting from fasting for spiritual benefits, which neglects the soul. What I have learnt through experience is that you reap more when you combine the two because we are spirit with a soul, living in a body. A physical fast without renewing your mind with the Word of God does not produce lasting results. It is always best to feed your spirit and renew your mind as you train your flesh.

Even when cleansing, the main motive should be to honor God with my body and soul. In other words when I fast, my first and most important motive should be to humble myself before the Lord, get more sensitive to Him; sharpen my ear so that I may hear His Word and the voice of the Holy Spirit; hearken and do!!!!!! That really means let the Holy Spirit take over every area of my life. This brings my body under subjection to the Word and will of God.

As Andrew advises us, we should glorify and exalt Jesus in everything we do.

Please share your experience or concern on fasting.

Listening to the voice of the Holy Spirit

Psalms 119:105

Oh how we need to stay focused on the Word and be sensitive to the voice of God! He speaks to our hearts all the time and if we pay attention to our conscience we will not miss it. On Wed. 4/4/12 around 8 pm., I almost lost my life in the heavy rain as I drove from Jonesboro to Alpharetta. There was no sign of rain in Jonesboro before I left. But due to a warning in a small voice, I called my son in Alpharetta to check if it was raining over there; he said there was no sign of rain.
It normally takes me about 45 minutes so I set off to go (without checking the weather forecast for downtown). 20 minutes later, it was raining cats and dogs as I drove into Atlanta. It was so dark and raining so hard I could not see anything and it was dangerous to pull to the side. I kept on calling  on the name of Jesus and commanding the rain to subside as I drove blindly following the rear lights of the car ahead of me. This heavy rain contued for a good 40 minutes.
I praise God for His protection and love. If this warning had come from man, he would have said; “I warned you and you didn’t listen.” But not our compassionate Father. He kept me safe and surprisingly there were no accidents on the road. When I reached Alpharetta, it was dry and just cloudy.
God knows best. Everything He does, everything He says, is for our good because He loves us. We must learn to renew our minds so we may hear His voice more clearly and follow His instructions more closely. The lesson I learnt on Wednesday will last me a lifetime. It is vital that we practice listening and following the voice of God, even in what seems to be a small thing.
Please listen to Andrew Wommack on “Discover the keys to staying full of God” especially this week which is on hardness of heart.

Jesus is the living Word and the Bible is the written Word of God.

Yesterday as I was studying I came across an article discussing the Word of God. The main theme of this writer was that “Jesus is the Word of God.” 100{891a5681f0bc32265372dbd2463e6cefea901f03f275f16c5adce366b4a55218} TRUE: However he goes on to argue that the Bible is not the Word of God and those who study the Bible are not being taught by God but by human beings. He continues to argue that when we study the Bible we cannot hear from God because we are only listening to the Bible.I was a bit disturbed by this extreme. Although I agree with him that studying the Bible without acknowledging Jesus and without letting the Holy Spirit teach us can be fruitless, we cannot deny the fact that the Bible is the written Word of God and without it we are at a great disadvantage. It is true as he recalls that the disciples managed to spread the gospel without the Bible. It is also true that in those days there were few sects in Christianity than there are today. However, he continues his argument that this is due to studying the Bible. My question is ‘how can you tell how many sects there would be today if they continued to spread the gospel without the Bible? Would they have increased or decreased? Who can tell?’ My guess is they would have increased regardless.

Yes, Jesus is the living Word of God. He said “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.” John 6:63.
In John 14:6 He says; “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” No argument about that!

However, the Bible, the written Word of God, was inspired by the Holy Spirit and written by men and women of God. They were under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
I know it is frustrating when people study the Bible and use it as the Pharisees and Scribes used the Law and abused it. Jesus was opposed to that type of practice. They studied the law and tried to load it over the innocent and the disadvantaged. That was wrong then and it is wrong now. Studying the Bible for intellectual purposes or for selfish motives is not what it was meant for, still the sins of a few should not change the importance of the Bible.

The Bible is the written Word of God. It was written by men and women of God inspired by the Spirit of God. 2 Timothy 3:16 “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” NKJ
Do not be discouraged from using the very weapon Jesus has put in your hands. Use it to enhance your life in the Lord. Let the Holy Spirit reveal to you the hidden secrets wrapped in it. He will make the words of the Bible become alive in your life. He will reveal Jesus and all that is of His to you.
Hallelujah!

Stop dwelling in the past.

Have you been disappointed or tried something which failed? “Well, today is a new day“. That is what the Holy Spirit said to me yesterday when I was asking why!!! “Focus on the possibilities“, He said. “God has promised to do a new thing“.If you are experiencing some setbacks or disenchantment don’t lose heart. Greater is He Who is in you than he who is in the world. The Holy Spirit the creator of all things, the Spirit of life lives on the inside of you. Think possibilities. Speak victory. Always acknowledge Him, listening to His voice so that you may change your plans to line up with the Word. The widow in 1 Kings 17 did!
Remember, you are more than a conqueror! Continue doing the right thing. Don’t be intimidated by the enemy or fear. God has not given you a spirit of fear but a spirit of power, love and of self discipline. Romans 8:37, Gal 6:9, 2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV, NIV

Thanks Be to God for healing Blessed, my grand daughter

Oh magnify the Lord with me and let us exalt His name together.Let the words of our lips and the meditation of our hearts be acceptable in Your sight oh Lord.Your Word is tested and tried.Forever oh Lord Your Word is settled in heaven and works in our loves.

Your Word has revived Blessed and given her strength.

You sent Your Word and healed her.

You forgave all her sins and healed all her disease.

Because Your loving kindness is better than life, our lips shall praise You always.

We will lift up our hands in Your name oh Lord.

You have done great things for us; that is why we are so glad!

Thank You Holy Spirit for revealing the truth to us. Thank you for being our mentor.

You have taught us to declare: “Jesus took Blessed’s infirmity and bore her sicknesses. Therefore, we refuse to allow sickness to dominate her body.

The life of God flows in her, bringing complete health to every fiber of her body. By Jesus’ stripes Blessed was healed and made whole.

Every part of her body functions in the perfection that God created it to function.

Her airs ways and her heart are perfect. Her nerves, ligaments, tendons, muscles, all function as God created them to function.

Her bone marrow and every cell in her body works perfectly.

What the enemy had planned for evil God has turned into good. No weapon formed against Blessed will prosper, we forbid any malfunction in her body, and every tongue which rises against her in judgment we shall condemn. This is the heritage of the children of the Lord, for our righteousness is from Him.

The Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in her infusing His life through her veins, giving her perfect health.”

I pray for a special anointing over Blessed. She is a mighty woman of God. She is God’s special child, prosperous spirit, soul and body. She is a blessing to her family and will bless nations. Amen

Thank You loving Father for our Lord Jesus Who heals us! Thank You for Your Holy Spirit Who guides and quickens us. We will praise you all the days of our lives!

I want you to know that I am the happiest jajja alive! I love you all dearly.

What an honor to be in His presence!

We are invited to the throne of El-Elyon, the Highest Sovereign of the heavens and the earth. How exciting!
This morning as I worshipped my Father, I was overwhelmed by the privilege He has given us, inviting us to His throne. We can turn to Him any time and if we are wise, we can be in His presence all the time.
I started recalling the many times I have tried to speak to somebody in authority; head teacher, pastor, employer, or any other person of authority. Many times I failed to get the appointment and the few times I managed, their time was very limited.I am sure you have seen people trying to talk to celebrities. Can you imagine the time they spend in cues waiting for an autograph? They pay for the book after which they spend more time waiting for the signature of a mere man. But when it comes to our loving Father, we have no time. What would be your response to a personal invitation to dinner in the White House, or Birmingham Palace? I remember after the recent presidential debate, the two candidates mingled with the audience. I could observed how people were scrambling to shake hands with them and some to get pictures taken with them. These were just candidates, not even presidents yet!Just think about it! We are invited to a daily banquet with El-Elyon, the Highest Sovereign of the heavens and the earth, our loving Father, and His Son our Lord Jesus Christ with the Holy Spirit, all present! My, my! What a feast! But do we attend? Most of time we are so busy with worry, fear, vengeance, cares of this world, and we forget that in His presence, there is peace, joy, prosperity, rest and victory!
When I remembered that this morning, praised God even more. I started singing and dancing. All the cares I was carrying I handed over to Him! I am free, I am blessed, I am a child of God and I can enjoy His presence all the time.

John 14:23 “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.”

Does God speak to us directly ?

Yes, God speaks to us all the time. God is always communicating but many times we do not hear, or we hear but do not listen depending on what occupies our minds. If you are born again, your spirit is made anew. That is; you are a new creation and through your spirit you are able to hear and respond to the voice of God. God also speaks to us through His written Word, and through other people. He gave us the Holy Spirit, the very spirit of God, who dwells in us to teach us, guide us and give us revelation of His Word and His will. Listening and reading the Word of God will keep our minds on the things of God and make it easy for us to recognize His voice and respond to the Holy Spirit.
Unfortunately, the cares of the world and the demands of the flesh tend to crowd our minds and instead of responding to God we end up listening to the news, the devil’s suggestions or the needs of the flesh. How disappointing!
In John 14:23 Jesus said, “If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.”

What does it profit you to be a scholar of the scriptures without the Holy Spirit?

Matthew 22:24-28 “Teacher,” they said, “Moses told us that if a man dies without having children, his brother must marry the widow and have children for him. Now there were seven brothers among us. The first one married and died, and since he had no children, he left his wife to his brother. The same thing happened to the second and third brother, right on down to the seventh. Finally, the woman died. Now then, at the resurrection, whose wife will she be of the seven, since all of them were married to her?”In verse 29 Jesus exposed the ignorance of these Sadducees. However, His answer to their question stresses the importance of scripture. “Jesus replied, “You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God.” NIVThere are two lessons to learn from this rebuke. Being a student of the Bible without knowing the Son Jesus leaves you
• ignorant of the written Word of God and
• robs you of the knowledge of God’s power.
Further more, if you don’t know scriptures, how is the Holy Spirit going to work in your life?
My conclusion is this: If your confidence is in the scriptures without Jesus Christ, you are doomed. Worse still, if your confidence is in the scriptures, without the Holy Spirit even if you claim to know about Jesus you may be lost.
